sun – shower – light – rain – (beat – long breath) I smile
so in utter simplicity I tried to achieve depth like haiku impact, that is what came to me in my head, all this when writing this… all this was swirling in my noggin, well, maybe not swirling but actually coalescing… and yes, I meant “light rain” as the sun (light) in showers (rain).. 2 lines of the same but not, it was pouring, I thought/wrote this in the midst that is the nature of a sun shower… the strangeness of the phenomena always makes me smile… comprende ?
your thoughts ? (I mean you did get this far, right?)
kiss of a sunset to quiet the gears that grind I shall remember
behind a grand tree light slides in the afternoon I take a deep breath
kiss of a sunset absorbs all my creation palms cleansed by water
and shall I count now each of these unto my lips for never lasting
notes… OK… sometimes I snuggle up to haiku… basho is awesome I must admit, I am usually mr. freeform but sometimes something triggers that itch of the japanese verse variety… work was dragging… I could feel it drowning me (my fault), looked out the window, the sun was setting (early this time of year) right behind a big old tree and some buildings, and it gave me pause… and a reprieve, silver linings indeed…
wildflowers stand in the rain colors are striking autumn, before leaves are none
notes: alternate haiku form here… came to me driving around today, yes, there are literal wildflower fields on the sides of the highways here these days (see : this), I saw a patch, and these words popped into my head as is (a splash of color on a dreary wind driven rain day), I have often just wanted to pull over, pull a selfie diving into such fields… but they never come out as you think they should, the hills are not alive with the sound of music, just people laughing at my epic fails falling into such scenery… so maybe I revealed too much…
notes… well, I must confess I went full on form haiku here, but it makes sense to me, these little flowers in my lawn only bloom in the summer sun, I was out there sweating my,… well never mind, it was hot, let’s say it that way, but those little flowers, the only ones that populate lawns beside dandelions, have you tasted them? the name is not misplaced, they taste great, something I learned in day camp decades ago. and you know, I have not repeated the experience, I should…
summer rain water droplets suspended on a spiders web
notes… so, I like haiku, in theory that is… I like the blunt tone but focus on nature/truth revealed (traditionally), however I just can’t keep myself to the norm forms, so this is 3/7/5 kind of a blend, I was out checking out my new bamboo plants after the rain (giant leaf and houzeau proud horticultural nerd papa that I am), I saw a spider’s web near the house anchored at the end of my siding to the ground, almost like a teepee, it was like a freeze-frame of rain, various size droplets in suspended animation, and these words popped into my head… there is more layers to this but I will let you contemplate that my friends…
I don’t endorse products or push links that make me money, so with no incentive I tell you that Lewis Bamboo is awesome, they know what they are doing and have great support, so that is why I linked to them specifically.
am I just a bird searching through fields of grass hoping for a single worm
notes: all about the rise and fall of the syllables, well, at least to me, one of those I call “haiku-feel”, you know, not haiku in the strict sense, sometimes simple is simple…. seems reasonable, at least to this mind…
an unremarkable rainy day the pond in the park over there a lone figure sits on the bench centered I can not read their story from here so I move on
notes… I say it every time I write a piece like this, haiku is great as a script, I don’t like the restraint but I love the feel, intent and compaction, no bones to throw @ those who are haiku advocates, Basho is amazing, he embodied his poems, but I am not Basho, so interpret for yourself.
a wheel is not just a circle there is structure there is spokes there is direction paths and roads
notes… strictly a writer nerd thing here, ever just right something and totally forgot you wrote it into existence ? yeah, this is one of those, just something like a common sense poem, a throwaway of sorts, simple and short, like haiku but not…
